In these two activities, he discusses strategies to prevent and treat hyperglycemia in extremely low-birth-weight (ELBW) and preterm infants. He identifies risk factors, the long-term effects of hyperglycemia, and the rationale for treating and preventing Neonatal Hypoglycemia. He reviews the differences, benefits, and when to use the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES) guidelines for screening, evaluation, and management of hypoglycemia, while highlighting the importance of treating asymptomatic hypoglycemia.
